The Department of Visual Communication (Shift II) at Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women, Chennai was started in June 2023. This new extension aims to cater to the growing demand for our highly valued BSc Visual Communication program, originally established in 2005. The Department is committed to sculpting the next generation of media professionals, creators and communicators, equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

The department takes pride in having state-of-the-art infrastructure designed to provide students with hands-on experience and industry-relevant skills. Our facilities include Advanced Edit Suite, Shasun News Room, Computer Graphics Lab, Drawing Lab, Shoot Floor and Dubbing Room along with the Sound Recording Room. Moreover, the students benefit from regular seminars and workshops conducted by the department inviting eminent industry professionals. This exposure helps them stay updated with the latest trends and practices in the field of visual communication, preparing them for successful careers.

Overview

The Department of Visual Communication at Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women, established in the year 2005 caters to sculpt students as media professionals, creators, and effective communicators.

The three-year UG program equips the students with theoretical as well as practical cognition and allows them to make a mark in the field of designing, animation, visualization, photography, reporting, web designing, film making, television production, content writing, editing, art direction and many more.

Their classroom training is a combination of traditional teaching along with ICT-based teaching methods. The students are also exposed to eminent industry professionals through seminars and workshops.

The key elements that comprise the department are the infrastructural facilities that offer hands-on experience to our students. This expands the horizons of knowledge of the students thereby providing a conducive atmosphere for industry-academia interface. There is a well-equipped computer graphics lab with wi-fi connectivity, an edit suite, a shooting floor, and audio consoles.
