OBE at Shasun

Change is the only constant today, and with it, comes the need for education systems to update and adapt their approach or risk becoming obsolete altogether. Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is a pedagogical model that entails the restructuring of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment practices to reflect the achievement of high-order learning with a student-centric approach.

Out Come Based Education is a learning paradigm that focuses on the outcomes or goals instead of results. Having realized the importance of OBE and its implementation, the institution, ventured into OBE concepts in the academic year 2018-19.

The   faculty sets a certain number of necessary skills and knowledge that the learner should possess at the end of education and they are identified as the outcomes. The assessments like exams, assignments, and projects are then defined to measure the achievement of these outcomes, and their results indicate whether the students have achieved them or not by the end of their study/learning.

Our faculty guides and help the students master the material using many student-centric approaches. At an individual level, the achievement of students is used to decide what outcome they have reached. The students will also be given credits according to their performance.

Student involvement in the classroom is a key part of OBE. Students are expected to do self-learning so that they attain a full understanding of the material. Increased student involvement allows students to feel responsible for their learning. Outcome-Based Education is a necessity of the hour and it is implemented in our institution with great care to bring about a harmonious growth of the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual qualities inherent in our students and make them into responsible future global citizens.
