PG & Research Department of Commerce (Shift I)

Overview

The Post Graduate and Research Department of Commerce functions intending to offer holistic education to its students to succeed in both life and career. The department was established in 2011, offering specialisation in Accounting & Finance. Started with just 17 students, it has now spread its roots and has a strength of more than 80 with students from various UG commerce courses and various colleges of the city only due to the benevolence of the management and guidance of our Principal. The M.Phil(Commerce) Degree, started in 2017 is yet another feather in the cap. It aims to transform post- graduate students into research scholars.

Eligibility For Admission

M.Com(A&F):

Candidates who have passed UG Degree in B.Com(gen), B.Com (A&F), B.Com(CS), B.Com(Hons), B.Com(BM), and BBA with 55% Pass Percentage from the University of Madras or any other University or its equivalent course recognised by the University of Madras.

DURATION: 2 Years – 4 Semesters.

M.Phil(Commerce):

Candidates who have passed PG degree in any commerce stream with 55% Pass Percentage from the University of Madras or any other University or its equivalent course recognised by the University of Madras.

Eligible candidates should write an entrance test and personal interview will be conducted based on the performance on the above tests the candidates will be selected for admission.

Duration: 1 Year.

Ph.D: (Applied for Ph.D (Full-Time) waiting for Affiliation from Madras University)
  • Candidate should have obtained a Master’s Degree with 55% marks in the qualifying examination (PG Degree). For SC/ST candidates and for candidates who have completed the PG degree before 1991, the minimum can be only 50% for admission to the Ph.D. Programme.
  • According to the Government Order, the M.Phil Degree obtained by the candidates through the correspondence / Distance Education / Open University System prior to 3rd April 2009 i.e., the date of the Government order only will be considered as eligible and the M.Phil degree obtained through the Correspondence / Distance Education / Open University System after 3rd April 2009 are not eligible.
