Overview
The Post Graduate Department of Commerce (General) established during the academic year 2023-3024. It started with 3 faculty members with the sanctioned students’ strength of 40. Post graduation in Commerce is one of the options for students after the under graduation in Commerce/ Business Administration/Corporate Secretaryship. This degree offers a lot of job opportunities in the field of Marketing, Human Resource, Auditing, Accounting, Banking, Research, etc.
This program provides the framework to enhance the learners’ acumen, logical and analytical thinking through mandatory internships and research projects which in turn facilitateindustry exposure, ensuring job readiness and confidence to become job providers.

M.Com (Accounting & Finance)
Candidates who have passed UG Degree in B.Com(General), B.Com (Accounting & Finance), B.Com(Corporate Secretaryship), B.Com(Honours), B.Com(Bank Management), B.Com (Marketing Management) and BBA with a pass percentage of 55% from the University of Madras or any other University or its equivalent course recognised by the University of Madras.
DURATION: 2 Years – 4 Semesters.
M.Phil – Eligibility
Candidates who have passed PG degree in any commerce stream with 55% Pass Percentage from the University of Madras or any other University or its equivalent course recognized by the University of Madras.
Eligible candidates should write an entrance test and attend personal interview
Duration: 1 Year
Ph.d – Eligibility
1. Candidate should have obtained a Master’s Degree with 55% marks in the qualifying examination (PG Degree). For SC/STcandidates and for candidates who have completed the PG degree before 1991, the minimum can be only 50% for admission to the Ph.D. Programme.
2. According to the Government Order, the M.Phil Degree obtained by the candidates through the correspondence / Distance Education / Open University System prior to 3rd April 2009 i.e., the date of the Government order only will be considered as eligible and the M.Phil degree obtained through the Correspondence / Distance Education / Open University System after 3rd April 2009 are not eligible.
