The Chief Guest, Shri. Dharani, delivered an insightful session highlighting the richness of Indian sculptures. He explained how sculptures narrate stories from the Puranas and epics, portraying gods, goddesses, and mythological characters with symbolic gestures. He elaborated on how to identify the age of sculptures through their style, detailing of ornaments, drapery, and carving techniques. He also discussed the representation of cloth, tradition, asanas, mudras, hairstyles, and facial expressions, showing how each detail reflects the cultural and spiritual ethos of the period. Shri Dharani further emphasized the aesthetic values, spiritual dimensions, and historical importance embedded in these works of art. His narration brought alive the idea that sculptures are not merely stone carvings but a visual medium of storytelling that connect us with our heritage.
Outcome: The lecture provided an excellent opportunity for students to gain deeper knowledge and appreciation of sculptures. It enhanced their understanding of the symbolism, cultural significance, and artistic excellence of Indian sculpture traditions.
